The pianist and composer Diederik Wissels and the singer and lyricist Ana Rocha present their second album on Igloo Records in 2023. The intimate conversation between the piano and the voice, established in their first album “Secrecy” (Igloo Records, 2020, with Andreas Polyzogopoulos on trumpet and Helge Andreas Norbakken on percussion) evolves and grows, creating new landscapes of words and sounds on the verge of jazz, classical and folk music, while staying open, fragile and minimalistic, as well as true to the search of beautiful harmonies and melodies, without constraints. Wissels’ compositions and Rocha’s lyrics take the listener on far away journeys or heartbreak that hits close to home. On their new album, they are accompanied by Nicolas Kummert on saxophone and Andreas Polyzogopoulos on trumpet and effects.

The renowned Dutch pianist and composer, one of the key figures of the Belgian and European jazz scenes, has worked with many internationally acclaimed singers (David Linx, Fay Claassen, Maria Pia de Vito, Maria João) and instrumentalists (Mário Laginha, Philippe Catherine, Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, Joe Henderson). His second album with Ana Rocha is added to his extensive, prize-winning discography.
Ana Rocha is a Berlin-based, Belgium-grown, German-Portuguese lyricist and singer on the rise. She joins Wissels’ beautiful playing, navigating between story-telling and silence, fragility and strength, with her clear and supple voice. Together they have found an emotive, nuanced musical language anchored in simplicity, that transports and grips the listeners attention.
